Sri Lankan Member of Parliament Faiszer Musthapha addressed the Parliament to publicly commend the swift and successful rescue operation of an Iranian naval crew whose vessel met with an accident near the Sri Lankan maritime boundary.
Speaking during a recent parliamentary session, MP Musthapha extended his special gratitude to the President for his immediate intervention and decisive leadership, which facilitated the prompt humanitarian mission.

During his address, Musthapha underscored the legal and moral imperatives of the rescue, referencing global maritime regulations.
“According to UN Maritime Law, Sri Lanka is internationally bound to save human lives during accidents at sea,” the MP pointed out.
He emphasized that through this swift humanitarian operation, Sri Lanka has unequivocally fulfilled its international responsibilities. The swift mobilization of resources to assist the distressed foreign crew highlights the island nation’s commitment to the safety of life at sea (SOLAS) protocols and international maritime conventions.
