Wake Up Call

[The Admiral]

Our politicians are third-rate actors. Some are not even third-rate. They are porn-rated. They perform for the cameras, badly, shamelessly, and nobody believes the act anymore.

Most of them would not get an entry-level job in any decent company. Their resumes would be thrown in the bin. Their interviews would be disasters. But here they are, leading a country, deciding the fate of millions, playing with our lives like it is a game show.

The promises flow like sewage water. Every day, a new promise. Every speech, another guarantee. Yesterday’s promise dies with today’s promise. Today’s promise will be forgotten by tomorrow’s promise. The numbers never add up. They promise millions, deliver nothing, and then promise billions next time. We are tired of their mathematics. We are tired of their lies.

We are tired of the footage. The disaster zone visits. The concerned faces for the cameras. The serious voices promising action. But even their acting is terrible. Fake tears. Fake concern. Fake outrage. Everything is fake, just like their promises. They cannot even pretend to care properly.

They tell us to trust them. Trust the government, they say. Trust the opposition, they say. Trust the new leaders. Trust the old leaders coming back as new leaders. Trust everyone. Trust anyone. Just trust.

But how can we trust people who do not even protect a six-month-old child.

Let us talk about Asoka Ranwala. Former Speaker. Senior JVP leader. A man of the revolution. A man of the people. A man who destroyed an innocent family and walked away like nothing happened.

It was not just an accident. It was a criminal act of breaching the trust of people. But the law was bent. The system was twisted. The powerful were protected. An innocent six-month-old child was harmed. A baby. Six months old. And the powerful man who harmed that child is being shielded.

Where is our women’s rights champion, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya. She speaks so much about protecting women and children. She gives speeches. She attends conferences. But where is she now. Silent. Invisible. Missing.

Where is the Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Savithri Paulraj. This is her job. This is exactly her job. To stand up for a six-month-old child who cannot stand up for herself. But she is nowhere. Silent. Complicit.

Where is the opposition leadership who promise us every day to trust them instead of the current government. They say they are better. They say they care more. They say they will protect the people. But where are they now. Silent. All of them. Silent.

The father of that child is living in trauma. His baby was harmed. His family was destroyed. And he watches as the system protects the powerful man who did this.

He watches as every leader, every minister, every champion of justice stays silent.

Justice must be served. Everyone involved in protecting Ranwala must be revealed in open court. Every phone call made. Every order given. Every file buried. Every favor called in. Everything must come out.

And when it comes out, we will see the truth. None of them took the side of the six-month-old child. Not the government. Not the opposition. Not the women’s rights champions. Not the ministers of child affairs. Not the revolutionaries. Not the reformers. None of them.

They all chose the powerful man over the powerless baby.

This is who they are. This is what they do. When it matters, when a real test comes, when they must choose between power and justice, they choose power. Every single time.

They stand on stages and promise to protect the people. They give speeches about justice and equality. They shed tears for the cameras when disasters happen. But when a six-month-old baby needs protection, when a father needs justice, when the system must actually work, they all disappear.

And then they come back the next day and ask us to trust them.

Trust them to do what. Protect the powerful. Shield the criminals. Bend the law. Break the system. Destroy families. Harm children. And then ask for our votes.

We are not just tired. We are disgusted. We are not just disappointed. We are enraged. This is not about politics anymore. This is not about left or right, government or opposition, old or new.

This is about basic human decency. This is about whether anyone in power has any conscience left. This is about whether a six-month-old child’s life matters to anyone wearing a suit and sitting in Parliament.

The answer is clear. It does not. The child does not matter. The father does not matter. Justice does not matter. Only power matters. Only protecting each other matters. Only the game matters.

They are not leaders. They are a gang. They protect their own. They sacrifice everyone else. And they have the nerve to ask us to trust them.

Trust is earned. Justice is not optional. A six-month-old child’s safety is not negotiable. And every single person who stayed silent in this case has shown us exactly who they are.

Remember this. Remember that when disasters happen, they cry for cameras. But when justice is needed, they hide. Remember that they will protect each other before they protect your children.

Remember this when they come asking for your trust again.

Remember the six-month-old child nobody protected. Remember the father nobody stood beside. Remember the silence of every single leader.

And remember that you owe them nothing. Not your trust. Not your vote. Not your respect. Nothing.

They have earned nothing but our contempt.
